This acrylic painting is part of my "Hammered & Hewn Series." I start with a solid panel, then add a sculptural molding compound to create the effects of metal backgrounds. I want every part of my painting to have purpose and texture. ​The beauty of decorative concept and design put forth by Archibald Knox in the early 1900s was a huge inspiration for me on this piece. His pewter and silver designs and work for Liberty & Co. in London are examples of excellence.

This verse is my adaptation from a longer mantra "Sky Above me, Earth Below me, Fire Within me" and the internet isn't sure who to give credit to at this point, so author unknown.
